Animal Ordinance Enforcement
The Animal Ordinance Enforcement Officer is responsible for enforcing Wayne's animal ordinance.¬†Many of his duties include investigating complaints of animal abuse, animal bites, stray animals, and licensing violations.¬†The Animal Ordinance Enforcement Officer can be contacted by calling the animal shelter at 734-721-1643.¬† If you wish to report a violation or have an animal complaint, you may also contact the police department at 734-721-1414.
The City's Animal Control Ordinance requires the wearing of a license tag by all dogs four months of age or older and further provides that only two dogs may be licensed per residential household.The regular renewal licensing period is from the beginning of January through the end of February. Licenses purchased during the renewal period are $10.00. Dogs that have been neutered or spayed are issued license tags at $5.00. All Licenses purchased after the renewal period are $20.00.
Notice of Renewal Period for 2009 Dog and Cat Licenses
The 2009 dog & cat tags will be available for sale inthe City Clerk'sOfficeatCity Hall, beginning December 15. All dogs & cats four months of age orolder must be licensed (certificate of rabies vaccination required) and wear a collar with current tag attached. Tags obtained by February 27, 2009, will be at a lesser fee.

Regular license $10.00*
License for spayed or neutered animals $5.00*
Fees from March 1 thru December 30, 2009
Regular/spayed or neutered animals $20.00
Replacement or transfer license (all year) $1.00
*Dogs & cats under four months of age or owned for less than 10 days qualify for these rates at any time of the year.
