Community Oriented Policing Crime Reduction Unit
(COPCRU) 

Community Oriented Policing Crime Reduction Unit (COPCRU), which was created in 1998, is a Special Investigations Unit comprised of officers from our department. The unit investigates a variety of crimes within our community and it has distinguished itself as a valuable asset to the Wayne Police Department and to the citizens of Wayne. It is utilized in targeting crime and providing focused attention to the current criminal concerns of our community. COPCRU addresses these concerns by taking a pro-active approach at eliminating and/or reducing crime in many areas.

These crimes include, but are not limited to, drug related crimes, fraudulent activities, liquor law violations, prostitution, etc. By targeting such crimes we can greatly improve the quality of life to Wayne residents.

Much of the criminal activity investigated by COPCRU is brought to their attention by citizens, which is why residents are encouraged to report any narcotic or illicit activity to the COPCRU.
