Responsibilities:  Should be proficient in various computer applications                                      and data entry.  Criminal and traffic bureau case file                                        management, Freedom of Information Act request                                          management, LEIN Terminal Agency Coordinator, and                                      other duties as assigned by the Police Chief.  Must have the                              ability to work effectively with other employees, public                                    officials and the general public on matters that may be of a                              highly confidential nature.  Previous experience with LEIN,                                Clemis, FOIA requests, and Sexual Offender Registry highly                              preferred.

 

Qualifications:            High School Education or GED

POLICEOFFICER-RECRUIT

(Police Academy Sponsorship)

 

The City of Wayne is accepting applications for Police Officer Recruit (Police Academy Sponsorship). This position is for non-licensed applicants. Candidates who are hired for this position will be sent to a 17- week Michigan Police Academy to begin in July 12, 2021. Upon successful completion of the Police Academy, the recruit will be promoted to entry level Police Officer and must complete the City of Wayne Police Department’s Field Training Officer program.

Qualifications include at a minimum:

a.                    Must be a U.S. citizen, 21 years or older at time of graduation from the academy.

b.                   Associate Degree required upon graduation of police academy. Must provide documentation.

c.                    Must have a valid Michigan driver’s license and good driving history.

d.                   No felony convictions and/or disqualifying criminal history.

e.                    Possess good moral character as determined by a favorable, comprehensive, and extensive background investigation covering school and employment records, home environment, and personal traits and integrity.

f.                    Available to work nights, weekends, holidays, and on an overtime basis.

g.                   Ability to successfully pass background investigation, psychological evaluation, interview process and drug/alcohol screen.

h.                   Must take and pass the EMPCO test to be considered for employment and provide proof of successful completion at the time of application. Details about exam are available at https:/www.empco.net/testing.

i.                     Must have passed the M.C.O.L.E.S reading, writing and physical fitness tests and provide proof of successful completion at the time of application.

j.                     You must be available for the entire training academy and pass the MCOLES State Licensing Exam for police officers at the end of the academy.

MEALS ON WHEELS DRIVERS NEEDED!

 

The City of Wayne seeks to hire individuals immediately for their Homebound Senior Meal Delivery Program.  Meals on Wheels is a Wayne County Program Housed within the City of Wayne that offers meal Delivery to homebound Seniors Monday-Friday to individuals 60 and above 

 

Drivers would be needed on Mondays for approximately 5 hours  to deliver meals to seniors within the City.  That rate of pay is $9.65 per hour.  A vehicle will be provided by the City of Wayne.

CITY OF WAYNE POLICE DEPARTMENT

POLICE SERVICE AIDE (PSA)

Pay Rate: $12.00/Hr.  (Part Time/Up to 28 hours per week)

 · Answer non-emergency phone calls for the Wayne Police Department and the Garden

City Police Department.

· Enter non-emergency Calls-for-Service into the CAD system.

· Assist Police Officers and Police Supervisors with minor clerical responsibilities.

· Write reports.

· Monitor prisoners on a closed circuit video system.

· Collect money for prisoner bonds, impounded vehicles and other monetary fees.

 Qualifications:

· File a properly completed application, which is acceptable to the City of Wayne, and

provide satisfactory responses to requests for additional information.

· Citizen of the United States.

· Be at least eighteen (18) years old.

· Possess a high school diploma or a valid equivalency certificate.

· Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.

· Have no more than two (2) hazardous traffic violations in the preceding five years, or a

total of no more than four (4) points on or after the date of application. The accident

history, regardless of fault, will be considered in the appraisal of the applicant’s overall

driving skills and, therefore, eligibility.

· Have no prior felony convictions.

· Any misdemeanor charges and convictions will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis to

determine eligibility of the applicant.

· Pass a drug test.

 

Hiring Process for the Police Service Aide:

FIREFIGHTERS

The City of Wayne is currently accepting applications for the purpose of establishing a Fire Fighter eligibility list.  The City of Wayne offers lateral transfers for up to 5 years of full-time service credit.  Applicants must be a citizen of the United States (Birth Certificate or Naturalization Papers required at time of application). High school diploma or GED (presented with application).  Possession of current, valid Michigan driver's license and an excellent driving record with no more than three (3) points on current driving record. 

Minimum qualifications include:

State of Michigan Advanced Life Support/Paramedic license within a year of hire, and

Current successful completion of Fire Fighter I and II   

                                                                        OR      

 Current State of Michigan Advanced Life Support/Paramedic license, and

 Successful completion of Fire Fighter I and II within one year of hire.

Proof of all the above must be submitted with application. 

In both instances, successful completion of the Conference of Western Wayne (CWW) Written and Physical Agility Testing completed by hire date.
