 FIREFIGHTERS

 

The City of Wayne is currently accepting applications for the purpose of establishing a Fire Fighter eligibility list.  Applicants must be a citizen of the United States (Birth Certificate or Naturalization Papers required at time of application). High school diploma or GED (presented with application);. Minimum qualifications include State of Michigan Advanced Life Support/Paramedic license within a year of hire, and successful completion of Fire Fighter I and II Firemanship Courses and  Conference of Western Wayne (CWW) Written and Physical Agility Testing. Proof of all the above must be submitted with application.  Possession of current, valid Michigan driver's license and an excellent driving record with no more than three (3) points on current driving record.

POLICE OFFICER


The City of Wayne is accepting applications for Police Officer. Applicants must conform to employment standards as set by the Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards (M.C.O.L.E.S.).

Qualifications include at a minimum:

a.    Associates Degree in related field; Bachelor’s Degree preferred; experience may be considered in lieu of education.
b.    Must be a U.S. citizen, 21 years or older at time of employment.
c.    MCOLES certified/certifiable as a police officer, or currently enrolled in an MCOLES approved police academy.
d.    Must have a valid Michigan driver’s license and good driving history.
e.    No felony convictions and/or disqualifying criminal history.
f.    Ability to successfully pass background investigation, psychological evaluation, interview process and drug/alcohol screen.

CLERK III  (Part Time)

 

The City of Wayne is accepting applications for a Clerk III (Part Time) Cashier. 

                                                                             

Salary Range:            $10.062 - $12.680 ~ Approximately 20-28 hours per week.

 

Responsibilities:         Receive and process all payments to the City. Operate the City switchboard and reception desk.

 

Qualifications:           Must have a High School diploma or successful completion of the General Educational Development test (GED) including or supplemented by courses in typing and computer operations. Must be detailed oriented and organized.

Account Clerk II (Part Time)  - The City of Wayne is currently accepting applications

Salary:        $15.744 to $20.282 per hour

Requirements:    Must have an Associate Degree in accounting and one year accounting experience. Must be detailed oriented, organized, and have experience using Microsoft Excel. Preferred experience in Payroll.

Responsibilities:    Process and prepare the computerized payroll, including payroll tax disbursements and related reports; Setup and maintain employee payroll information; Process W2 forms; Assist with other accounting activities as required; Prepare and maintain various computer spreadsheets; Performs all other related work as assigned.

BUILDING INSPECTOR  (Part Time)

The City of Wayne is accepting applications to establish an Building Inspector (Part Time) eligibility list. 
   
Salary Range:    $25.05


Qualifications:    Qualifications:    High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).  Minimum of 4 years verifiable experience in building trade with knowledge of Michigan Building Code.  Must be registered or eligible to become registered within (6) months of hire according to Act 54 P.A. of Michigan 1986.  Must also possess a valid State Michigan driver’s license with no more than three (3) points on current driving record.

PART-TIME LIBRARIAN: Approximately 25-30 hours per week.

Minimum qualifications include a MLIS from an accredited college or university. Applicant must be able to work effectively and enthusiastically with the public and staff and have a strong public service orientation. Familiarity with reader advisory, adult programming, computers, software and Internet is crucial. Applicant must be able to work independently.

 

Salary Range: $15.57 per hour

LIBRARY PAGE: Approximately 10-15 hours per week. Applicant must be able to shelve materials in proper alphabetical and Dewey Decimal sequence. Bending, lifting, and pushing book carts are required. Some evening and Saturday hours will be included in the normal schedule.

 

Salary range: $8.90 per hour.

Maintenance Specialist-Part Time

The City of Wayne is currently accepting applications for the purpose of establishing a Maintenance Specialist-Part Time eligibility list.  This is a part time position with the salary range $13.25-$14.39 per hour up to 28 hours per week. 

This position is responsible for general building and minor automotive maintenance within the Police Department.

Applicants must possess a valid State of Michigan operator’s license with no more than three (3) points on current driving record and must pass a comprehensive background investigation. Applications are available at the Personnel Department and the City of Wayne website.

 Salary Range: $25.052 ~ Approximately 20-28 hours per week.

 Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent (GED). Minimum of 4 years verifiable experience in building/inspection code enforcement, construction related field, or equivalent and knowledgeable with Michigan Building Code. Must be registered or eligible to become registered within (6) months of hire according to Act 54 P.A. of Michigan 1986. A minimum of two (2) years prior municipal experience preferred. Must also possess a valid State Michigan driver’s license with no more than three (3) points on current driving record.

**WAYNE POLICE DEPARTMENT VOLUNTEER POSITION**

RESERVE POLICE OFFICER - Reserve Police Officer is a voluntary, non-paid position. Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED, be at least 21 years of age, have no more than three (3) points on their driving record and no criminal record.
