The City of Wayne is accepting applications for Police Officer Recruit (Police Academy Sponsorship). This position is for non-licensed applicants. Candidates who are hired for this position will be sent to a 17 week Michigan Police Academy to begin in January of 2020. Upon successful completion of the Police Academy, the recruit will be promoted to entry level Police Officer and must complete the City of Wayne Police Department’s Field Training Officer program.

Qualifications include at a minimum:

a.         Must be a U.S. citizen, 21 years or older at time of graduation from the academy.

b.         Associate Degree required upon graduation of police academy. Must provide documentation.

c.         Must have a valid Michigan driver’s license and good driving history.

d.         No felony convictions and/or disqualifying criminal history.

e.         Possess good moral character as determined by a favourable, comprehensive, and extensive background investigation covering school and employment records, home environment, and personal traits and integrity.

f.          Available to work nights, weekends, holidays, and on an overtime basis.

g.         Ability to successfully pass background investigation, psychological evaluation, interview process and drug/alcohol screen.

h.         Must take and pass the EMPCO test to be considered for employment and provide proof of successful completion at the time of application. Details about exam are available at https:/www.empco.net/testing.

i.          Must have passed the M.C.O.L.E.S reading, writing and physical fitness tests and provide proof of successful completion at the time of application.

j.          You must be available for the entire training academy and pass the MCOLES State Licensing Exam for police officers at the end of the academy.

Position:Circulation Clerk

 

Hours:20-25 hours per week, including days, evenings, and weekends

Responsibilities:

•Check materials in and out to patrons

•Handle fines, payments, and receipts

•Process returned materials, holds, and other materials from the TLN delivery

•Follow procedures for dealing with missing and damaged books

•Search and maintain patron records, ensuring accuracy and privacy

•Issue library cards

•Welcome patrons and provide directions

•Answer the main phone and direct calls as needed

•Sort library materials and help shelve as needed

•Open and close library building

•Assist with special projects

•Other duties as assigned

 

Requirements:

•High school diploma

•Experience working in a customer service role

•Experience working with computers

•Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

•Provide reference and readers’ advisory service

•Plan and execute library programs, including storytimes and the summer reading program

•Participate in collection development including evaluation, purchasing, and weeding

•Assist with the general operation of the library, including opening and closing the building

•Master’s degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited program or significant progress toward such a degree

MEALS ON WHEELS DRIVERS NEEDED!

 

The City of Wayne seeks to hire 1 back up driver for their Homebound Senior Meal Delivery Program. Meals on Wheels is a Wayne County Program Housed within the City of Wayne that offers meal Delivery to homebound Seniors Monday – Friday to individuals ages 60 and above.

Drivers would be needed approximately 9 to 10 hours a week to deliver meals to seniors within the City. The rate of pay is $9.45 per hour. A vehicle will be provided by the City of Wayne.

    FIREFIGHTERS

 

The City of Wayne is currently accepting applications for the purpose of establishing a Fire Fighter eligibility list.  Applicants must be a citizen of the United States (Birth Certificate or Naturalization Papers required at time of application). WAYNE POLICE DEPARTMENT
POLICE SERVICE AIDE PROGRAM

 
Starting Pay Rate: $12.00/Hr (Part Time/Up to 28 hours per week)

 Qualifications:

  1. File a properly completed application, which is acceptable to the City of Wayne, and provide satisfactory responses to requests for additional information,
  2. Citizen of the United States.
  3. Be at least eighteen (18) years old.
  4. Possess a high school diploma or a valid equivalency certificate.
  5. Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
  6. Have no more than two (2) hazardous traffic violations in the preceding five years, or a total of no more than four (4) points on or after the date of application. The accident history, regardless of fault, will be considered in the appraisal of the applicant’s overall driving skills and, therefore, eligibility.
  7. Have no prior felony convictions.
  8. Any misdemeanor charges and convictions will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis to determine eligibility of the applicant.
  9. Pass a drug test, checking for the presence of illicit controlled substances.
  10. Pass the department’s Oral Review Board.
  11. Pass the department background investigation.
  12. Pass a fingerprint check.
  13. An interview with the Police Chief or his designee will be conducted, the results of which will be considered in the applicant’s overall suitability for employment.
