Making Wayne Attractive
The Community Development Department is actively involved in attracting new businesses to the City of Wayne and sponsors several community-based improvement programs to enhance the City’s attractiveness. The Department is responsible for the City’s liaison with the Development Area Citizens Council and the Downtown Development Authority (DDA), which includes all of Michigan Avenue and Wayne Road plus a large block of industrial property in southwest Wayne. The Director of the Community Development Department staffs the DDA Board which makes recommendations to City Council regarding tax dollar expenditures.
The DDA has launched several beautification projects including streetscape and parking lot improvements and has played an important role in developing the three, beautiful, City-operated hiking trails which border the District.
