TAX EXEMPTION ORDINANCE

ADOPTED JUNE 16, 2020

An Ordinance to provide for a service charge in lieu of taxes for a housing project for low income persons and families to be financed with a federally-aided Mortgage Loan pursuant to the provisions of the State Housing Development Authority Act of 1966 (1966 PA 346, as amended; MCL 125.1401, et seq) (the "Act")

SECTION 1.  This Ordinance shall be known and cited as the "City of Wayne Tax Exemption Ordinance-Wayne Towers Senior Citizen High-Rise".

NOTICE OF REGISTRATION FOR THE PRIMARY ELECTION TO BE HELD ON TUESDAY, AUGUST 4, 2020

TO THE QUALIFIED ELECTORS OF THE CITY OF WAYNE:

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that any qualified elector of the City of Wayne who is not already registered, may register to vote at the office of the Wayne City Clerk; the office of the Wayne County Clerk; a Secretary of State branch office, or other designated state agency.  Registration forms can be obtained at mi.gov/vote and mailed to the City Clerk.  Voters who are already registered may update their registration at www.expressSOS.com.

The last day to register in any manner other that in-person with the local clerk is Monday, July 20, 2020.  After this date, anyone who qualifies as an elector may register to vote in person with proof of residency (MCL 168.492) at the Wayne City Clerk's Office, located at 3355 S. Wayne Rd., Wayne, MI  48184 at the following times:

  • Regular business hours: Monday-Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
  • Saturday, August 1, 2020 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • Election Day, Tuesday August 4, 2020 from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

County Proposal:

PROPOSITION O - Operating Millage Renewal

Renewal of 2009 authorized millage to continue at a rate of 0.9529 (about 95 cents per $1,000 of taxable valuation) for ten more years with proceeds used for existing County services.  This renewal is projected to generate $42,129,703 in 2020.

PROPOSITION P - Parks millage Renewal

Renewal of 2016 authorized millage to continue at a rate of 0.2459 mills (about 25 cents per $1,000 of taxable valuation) for five more years to improve and operate parks and related facilities.  This renewal is projected to generate $10,871,753 in 2021.
