We are proud of our community and invite you to visit with us both on the web and in person. If you are considering the Metro Detroit area as your next home, please stop by and tour our hometown. I have no doubt you'll find Wayne a welcoming and friendly place to live and work.
Wayne is considered a great place to raise a family with the many specialty stores, outstanding police and fire services and 18 community parks.
Our City is the home of the second largest site in the United States for Ford Motor Company. We are also situated only five minutes from one of the world's largest international airports, Detroit Metropolitan Airport.
You'll enjoy our various parks. The Mill Trail and Washington parks offer a scenic walking trail along the Rouge River. There are baseball diamonds available to teams of all ages at Attwood, Forest and Walz parks. Goudy Park is host to a weekly Farmer's Market. And, you'll see, all of our parks have play equipment for children and picnic tables for family outings.
Part of what makes our parks so special is the service organizations that support them. For instance, the Rotary Club sponsors and helps maintain both Rotary I and Rotary II parks. The Civitans do the same at Civitan Park. The City is always striving to make the parks as attractive and useful as possible.
Our downtown area is lined with brick-paved sidewalks and with old-fashioned streetlights making for a fun shopping experience or a great place to open a business. Soon our downtown will be even more "pedestrian friendly" so visitors and residents can easily frequent the unique businesses we have here in Wayne.
