Probation Officer - Part Time

The 29th District Court has an immediate opening for a probation officer.  This position is part-time – 21 hours per week (no benefits).  Duties include conducting pre-sentence/screening and assessment interviews and preparation of reports, meeting and monitoring individuals sentenced to probation, representing the probation department in court proceedings and other duties as assigned.  A Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, psychology, counseling or related field is required.  Previous court experience is preferred.  The hourly rate is up to $25.00.  An official employment application must be completed and can be obtained on-line at http://cityofwayne.com/pdfs/employapp.pdf

MEALS ON WHEELS DRIVERS NEEDED!

 

The City of Wayne seeks to hire individuals immediately for their Homebound Senior Meal Delivery Program.  Meals on Wheels is a Wayne County Program Housed within the City of Wayne that offers meal Delivery to homebound Seniors Monday-Friday to individuals 60 and above 

 

Drivers would be needed on Mondays for approximately 5 hours  to deliver meals to seniors within the City.  That rate of pay is $9.65 per hour.  A vehicle will be provided by the City of Wayne.

Job description and Qualifications:

1. Essential Functions:

a. Occasionally read water meters for billing purposes. Answer service calls, and install, test, repair, remove, and/or exchange water meters.

b. Operates a truck with available attachments in order to haul materials, rubbish, or snow.

c. Operates smaller tractors with/without attachments for lawn mowing/snow removal maintenance.

d. Repairs water mains and sewers. Make water and sewer taps. Clean sewers and catch basins.

e. Repair and maintain fire hydrants.

f. Paint traffic markings on curbs and streets.

g. Repair and maintain roads.

h. Perform cement finishing work which includes sidewalks, manholes, catch basins and lay or repair curbs.

i. Perform snow removal of roads/sidewalks.

j. Trim and remove trees. Perform stump grinding.

2. General Job Duties:

a. Operates heavy equipment in emergency situations.

b. Complete necessary daily reports

c. Assist City buildings with light building maintenance.

d. Performs other related work as assigned.

3. Job Qualifications:

a. High School diploma or GED.

b. Must possess and maintain a valid State of Michigan operator’s license and the City will assist new hire, to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) during his/her probationary period.

4. Working conditions:

a. Tasks are performed both inside and outside environmental conditions.

POLICE SERVICE AIDE (PSA)

Pay Rate: $12.00/Hr.  (Part Time/Up to 28 hours per week)

 · Answer non-emergency phone calls for the Wayne Police Department and the Garden

City Police Department.

· Enter non-emergency Calls-for-Service into the CAD system.

· Assist Police Officers and Police Supervisors with minor clerical responsibilities.

· Write reports.

· Monitor prisoners on a closed circuit video system.

· Collect money for prisoner bonds, impounded vehicles and other monetary fees.

 Qualifications:

· File a properly completed application, which is acceptable to the City of Wayne, and

provide satisfactory responses to requests for additional information.

· Citizen of the United States.

· Be at least eighteen (18) years old.

· Possess a high school diploma or a valid equivalency certificate.

· Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.

· Have no more than two (2) hazardous traffic violations in the preceding five years, or a

total of no more than four (4) points on or after the date of application. The accident

history, regardless of fault, will be considered in the appraisal of the applicant’s overall

driving skills and, therefore, eligibility.

· Have no prior felony convictions.

· Any misdemeanor charges and convictions will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis to

determine eligibility of the applicant.

· Pass a drug test.

The City of Wayne is currently accepting applications for the purpose of establishing a Fire Fighter eligibility list.  The City of Wayne offers lateral transfers for up to 5 years of full-time service credit.  Applicants must be a citizen of the United States (Birth Certificate or Naturalization Papers required at time of application). High school diploma or GED (presented with application).  Possession of current, valid Michigan driver's license and an excellent driving record with no more than three (3) points on current driving record. 

Minimum qualifications include:

State of Michigan Advanced Life Support/Paramedic license within a year of hire, and

Current successful completion of Fire Fighter I and II   

                                                                        OR      

 Current State of Michigan Advanced Life Support/Paramedic license, and

 Successful completion of Fire Fighter I and II within one year of hire.

Proof of all the above must be submitted with application. 

In both instances, successful completion of the Conference of Western Wayne (CWW) Written and Physical Agility Testing completed by hire date.
